Jim Magilton and John Gorman have left QPR following an investigation into a dressing room incident after the Watford defeat the club has confirmed.

As expected Magilton will not be returning to work at Loftus Road following allegations of an assault on midfielder Akos Buzsaky in the wake of the 3-1 defeat at Watford last Monday night. Buzsaky was seen wondering around Vicarage Road in his full kit for an hour after the match after allegedly being head butted by his manager during the after match inquest. Magilton immediately denied any wrong doing and called the incident ‘a difference of opinion’ but was suspended from duties pending an investigation.

The results of that investigation are not yet known but tonight the club has announced that Magilton, and his assistant John Gorman who has refused to work and backed the manager’s side of events despite players standing as witnesses against them, will not be returning to work.

A spokesman for QPR said: “The club can confirm that Jim Magilton and John Gorman have left Queens Park Rangers by mutual consent. Recent events have been widely reported and whilst Jim Magilton completely denies the allegations, with the full support of John Gorman, it has been agreed that it is in the best interests of the club and Jim Magilton, if the parties move on in their separate ways. The club would like to wish both Jim Magilton and John Gorman good luck in the future and thank them for their hard work.

Rangers are now expected to appoint former Portsmouth manager Paul Hart as Magilton’s replacement, on a six month contract to the end of this season. He will be assisted by former Rangers coach Mick Harford.
