QPR v Cardiff Betting Preview

As the season draws to a close the gap between our pundits is widening, but one big accumulator win could change all of that. Join the boys as they look ahead to QPR v Cardiff and a weekend of sporting action.

It is not very often that you back a loser and smile but this is exactly what happened last Saturday as AP McCoy finally won the National. For the best Jump jockey ever to finally get the one thing missing from his CV and to see his delight must have brought a smile to even the most cynical of punters out there. I was puzzled to see so many horses plunge in price on Saturday. Ok the winners mount was always going to shorten due to the AP factor but I think the bookies were just trying to squeeze the value out of some of them. I am surprised John Parrot and his bookie mate did not make more of it as I am sure John McCririck would have been voicing his concerns if he has been broadcasting.

Our old rivals from Cardiff head to HQ on Saturday with their play off place all but secured. Seven points clear of the seventh place team with 3 games to go it would take some effort to throw that away but it would be funny. I think we can start the nerves jangling by getting a 2-1 win and I will go for Faurlin to get the first goal. Watford then ride into town on Tuesday and we could both be safe by then so as a betting prospect I should avoid it but I will have a cheeky £5 on Lee Cook to wind up his old club and get first goal.

The Scottish Grand National takes place at Ayr and Cheltenham winner Poker de Sivola heads the market. I am going to back Ferdy Murphys horse as I am sure he will have him on good form. The World Snooker championship starts in Sheffield and I will go for Mark Selby at 9/1 to win the tournament.

Chuck in my normal footie bets and lets hope to return to winning ways.

For the weekend:
£5 QPR to beat Cardiff 2-1
£5 Faurlin to score 1st v Cardiff
£5 Cook to score 1st v Watford

£10 Poker de sivola to win Scotish Grand National 15/2
£10 Mark Selby to win Snooker World Title 9/1

£2.50 trebles and a £2.50 acca
Brighton 9/5
Southampton 11/10
Dundee Evs
Leeds 5/6

QPR come up against old nemesis Cardiff this weekend and with our safety assured hopefully a shackle-free performance will give Rangers a convincing home win against an unpredictable Cardiff side. I will have a few pennies on QPR winning by two or three goals. Just want to give a quick mention to Audley Harrison - what a man, he’s probably the greatest boxer of all time. Last weekend’s victory over Michael Sprott was another glorified moment that A-Force has given his fans in his professional career. Remember the time when he, erm.. Oh dear.

Excuse the sarcasm, but all the talk this week of Harrison going for a World Title shot is laughable. 25-1 (Skybet.com) for Harrison to become the World Heavyweight Champion is the worst bet of the year, if anyone wants to take that bet – give me a ring and you can quote your price. Back to reality and there are couple of fantastic prices to get yourselves stuck into this weekend in the Football League. Brian Laws looks as though he is going to create history this season - being responsible for two side’s relegations in two different divisions. His previous club Sheffield Wednesday, despite the valiant efforts of new manager Alan Irvine, look like a side destined for League One. Their city rivals United (2-1 Boylesports.com) will be eager this weekend to put another nail in Wednesday’s coffin.

Wycombe travel to injury stricken Milton Keynes, who announced today that Paul Ince will leave at the end of the season, and the visitors will be full of beans following their 3-1 away victory over Tranmere. They are hugely overpriced at 10-3 (Coral.com) for the victory as they need to win the game in order to put pressure on the sides above them in the relegation zone.

I will try my luck at an extravagant horse racing multiple and also tip up a winner for the 2000 Guineas in the form of Canford Cliffs.

For the weekend:
QPR 2 0 Cardiff - £5 Single
QPR 3 1 Cardiff - £5 Single

£10 Double on Sheffield United (2-1) and Wycombe (10-3)
£15 on Canford Cliffs for the 2000 Guineas. (6-1)

50p Lucky 15
Scottish Grand National – 3.20 - No Panic (66-1)
2.00 Newbury – Buxted
3.05 Newbury – Misheer
2.35 Newbury – Irish Heartbeat

Previously advised:
£25 on Fernando Torres to become World Player of the Year – 16-1 Skybet
£25 on Xavi to become World Player of the Year – 25-1 Skybet
