Palace owners want Steve Cooper. He is their number one target confirmed Friday, 21st May 2021 16:57 by Keith Haynes We have learned to day that Crystal Palace have made it known that Steve Cooper is their preferred man to replace Roy Hodgson when the Premier League season finishes this weekend. Cooper was linked by betting companies with several others yesterday in a top five, now that five is one according to the Selhurst Park owners. Crystal Palace have narrowed their search for a new manager to replace Roy Hodgson to Swansea boss Steve Cooper, who has guided the Welsh club to the Championship play offs. However, Parish has admired Dyche for some time and the Clarets boss has been a name under consideration at Selhurst Park for over 12 months already. He was even in line for the job this time last year before Hodgson ultimately signed a new one-year deal to stay on. Not even a promotion for the swans will put Palace off as they want a manager away from the normal appointment that they have favoured in recent times. The club knows the squad options at Palace are ageing, and in the last two seasons little or no progress has been made. This is a club with three players on wages of over one hundred thousand pounds a week and seven on over sixty thousand. They see the addition of Cooper as beneficial not only due to his recent success at Swansea but his ability to encourage younger players who will add to the Selhurst Park coffers if sold on. It’s now a straight forward option, Dyche for the chairman, or Cooper for the owners.
