The U's this evening drew 2-2 in their home pre-season friendly against Aston Villa.

The U's goals were scored by Scott Vernon and Ashley Vincent on 26 minutes and 56 minutes respectively. Villa replied with goals from Steve Sidwell on 58 minutes and Adam McGurk on 72 minutes

Villa played a first team side, with the likes of Brad Friedel, Zat Knight, Curtis Davis, Nicky Shorey, Nigel Reo-Cocker, Steve Sidwell and Marlon Harewood all in their starting line up.

New signing Joel Thomas made his United debut, playing the final half an hour without ever really excelling.
