County set to unveil new manager on Monday

County's search for a successor to Gary Ablett has been concluded, with the club set to announce our new manager on Monday at a press conference at Edgeley Park. Despite the fact that the club have kept the name of the new gaffer quiet, it is widely known that former Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson is the mystery man.

After Jim Gannon decided not to take the job at the back end of last week, the 2015 Consortium have looked at their list of alternative men as they look to bring in a new manager to rebuild the team and club following our 15 month spell in administration and relegation to League Two.

Simpson is currently out of work after being sacked by Shrewsbury Town following their failure to make last season's League Two play-offs.

Simpson is set to be assisted by Gannon's former assistant Peter Ward, which is no surprise as Ward has been taking pre-season training in the absence of an appointed manager.
