Get in!! Was worried in the first half, we showed touches of class but gave the ball away too easily and Wigan were all over us. They should have scored. Second half, so much better, moved the ball quickly and forward and deserved the win.

Carillo had a shocker. and looks a serious waste of money..and how unlucky was Manolo! I fancy him to get a hat-trick against West Ham, it is due! Long played well when he came on. PEH and Lemina looked so classy at times and then gave the ball away stupidly at others. Also I thought Boufal had a good game going forward.

First half was always going to be tough. Second half was much better.
It's promising that Hughes picked a system that suits the better players we have - who'd have thunk it eh?!
My only worry is Carillo. I'm unclear what he offers.

Lastly, why wasn't their defender sent off for the penalty? Last man. Have I missed a rule change?

Relief to see a win by more than one at last.

I think there has been a change in the laws in that a penalty is deemed punishment enough. Respect to the dedicated supporters that got behind the team for the whole match, particularly supporting Gabbi after the penalty save. The first half saints lack of confidence was so clear but second half was a vast improvement. Feeling dizzy with victory. The sooner Austin is fit the better as Gabbi will have a footballer up front to play with. Sparky has made a difference already and this should lift the club. Course, together as one.

Was it Fergie who use to give his players the hair dryer treatment? Wonder if Sparky stole that hair dryer whilst he was at Utd? Marked change in attitude of a few in the second half, Lemina and Cedric to name but two!!!! Did they get the Hughesie treatment? Cedric' hair was certainly well coiffured!!!!

Wow! A manager that knows how to manage a game! Half time talk changed things and the substitutions made sense and worked! Redmond's deflected cross as an assist and Long with some good game management. Lemina was sloppy and trying too hard to impress but I take that as a positive of the new manager's arrival. Players will note that Hughes knows how to 'in game' manage and play for him.. Unlike with MP.

Great to see an improvement from a half time talk, even Tadic was better.
Have to agree Carrillo looks a total waste of money at 19m, could have got a much better striker from championship for a fraction of the price. Notice that transfernet only value him at 5m.
