Neil Warnock faces an anxious wait and could be forced to rethink his rebuilding plans following Leigh Bromby's horrific injury at Cardiff.
The defender appeared to fall awkwardly during Saturday's 1-1 draw and needed oxygen after passing out due to the pain.
It has been revealed that Bromby has damaged his patella. He will definitely miss the start of the season, Warnock himself thinks he could be out until the start of 2013 whilst other grim estimates say Bromby could miss a whole year of football due to his latest injury misfortune that the club.
Bromby, who also played for Warnock at Sheffield United and also played for arch-rivals Wednesday, was predicted to play a part in the Warnock revolution. His versatility at the back, where he can play at either centre or full-back was seen as a plus in the argument to retail his services amidst the cull which is now in full-swing.
Warnock also revealed that Bromby's agility as an emergency goalkeeper meant he did not have to worry about naming a goalie on the subs bench, hence his decision to send keepers Maik Taylor and Paul Rachubka out on-loan to Millwall and Orient respectively.
Now it seems certain Warnock will have to rethink his rebuilding plans slightly to compensate for the long-term loss of the Dewsbury-born defender, who has had little luck with fitness since joining the club he supported as a kid.
