Boundy started his career coming through Southampton's Youth set-up, after making the first team only making 5 apperances in the Premiership he was sold to Stockport for £100,000. After holding down a regular place in the Div.1 outfit for a season a serious injury to his foot held him back and forced him to move on gratefully to the Swans for only £55,000. What a Bargain that proved to be! Mat is a firm left footed defender who's defensive qualites are great but his distribution is woeful.

• 1999/2000 Boundy's take no prisoners attitude and buliding a firm defensive relationship with fellow central defender Jason Smith proved the best in the football league conceeding less goals than any other team. This resulted in a selection for the Div 3 team of the year.
• 2000/2001 Bound failed to live up to the great expections of last season, this might have a lot of bearing on the fact that the great back 4 of last season only played 6 games together this season due to injury. His frustrations were obvious as in the last match of the season he neraly took off a Cambridge players head with a kick which will leave him banned for the first 3 matches of next season.
