I'm Not Sure That Is Right Neil?

There has been a few comments after yesterday's game that we were unlucky not to get at least a point but I am not sure that is correct given how deep we were sat for most of the second half allowing Southampton to dictate much of what happened during that second 45 minutes.

Of course it is difficult when you have been reduced to ten men but yesterday we seemed to sit too far back after that red card and let the Saints come at us with just Gylfi left up top and unable to hold onto many of the long balls that we were punting forward as we tried to keep our clean sheet intact.

We should have been at least one goal up I guess by the time that Wilfried Bony got himself sent off with two moments of madness but that was when we were on top and we were definitely second best from the moment that Bony saw the red card waved in front of his face.

"It was tough to swallow," said Taylor. "It was one of those where we were under the cosh for a large period of the game due to the circumstances.

"But even though we were under pressure we still could have come away with a draw.

"We were disappointed with the sending off. We were on top at that point and looked like we might break the deadlock.

"We maybe should have scored one or two, but I thought that at 0-0 with 15 minutes to go we were comfortable.

"We can take heart from the game, but we must move on now."

To an extent Neil Is right as we could have got the draw but I am not sure that we deserved it on the overall balance of play. We had very little of the ball in the second half and whilst Southampton were not creating clear cut chances all morning they were certainly the better team by some distance after the interval.

We defended well enough but we should have learned to be a little more aggressive although I suppose doing that would have risked leaving ourselves more exposed at the back which was possibly more dangerous.

All things aside the key for me is to learn from the mistakes of yesterday and ensure that we move forward as a team because of it. Defensively we played for 50 minutes with ten men and conceded just once but Southampton were never threatened from the moment Wilf was sent off and that should have been different even with ten men particularly with home advantage.
