G.M's Match Preview: Rams Must Beat Teams Like Terriers To Finish Top 2

After a dogged display against a solid Blackburn team, Derby will hope to get back to winning ways in front of nearly four thousand travelling fans at Huddersfield.

Derby will again be without Hendrick who is still suffering from a virus with Butterfield likely to deputise again in midfield as he makes a return to his former club for the first time since his over inflated price move.

Forsyth could potentially return at left back for Warnock, as Clement may look to attack more. It seems he is happy to draw away from home, although teams who get automatic promotion tend to beat teams away from home who are in the bottom half of the table.

Otherwise, Derby should remain unchanged, with Carson in goal, Johnson and Thorne in the middle, Russell and Ince occupying the wide berths and Captain Martin up front.

Huddersfield Town winger Carayol missed Tuesday night's two nil win against MK Dons due to a family bereavement and is still absent on compassionate leave, ex - Rams striker James Vaughan serves the second of a three match ban while midfielder Hogg also misses out with a quadricep strain.

Huddersfield does possess experience and footballing quality in Wells, Lynch and Scannell. However, if the likes of Thorne, Johnson, Ince and Martin click, Derby should cause Huddersfield problems.

Butterfield will probably be motivated by the inevitable booing, although they should applaud him for getting them £4.75m when realistically he is a £2 -2.5m player.

Prediction:

Derby have only won once in their last 10 meetings to Huddersfield and in recent times the result has tended to be a score draw.

Derby's third game in 6 days will be physically and mentally tough, especially having to dig deep and defend for long periods on Wednesday, as no one really deserved to win.

If Derby have true belief and ambition of automatic promotion then three points will go along way to supporting that.

Shooting towards nearly four thousand Rams fans in the second half should secure a 2-1 victory with Martin and Butterfield to score.
