Saints Advise Fans To Print@home For Tonight To Avoid Queues

It is fair to say that the sale of tickets for this evening's game against Crystal Palace have not been brisk, but with a big walk up on the cards, Saints are advising fans to print their tickets at home.

With three home games in six days it is not surprising that something had to give and that has meant that the demand has not been high for the visit of Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup tonight, a small part of that might be that some supporters are confusing the EFL Cup with the EFL Trophy a competition that Saints academy side is in along with Leagues one and two clubs, but the main reason is cost.

Even with subsidised tickets a non season ticket holder would have to pay out something in the region of £65 to see Sparta, Swansea and Palace and when you add transport costs etc that is a big outlay for many in a week, not to mention those who take their kids to the games.

But historically for games like this with low pre match sales there has been a big walk up on the night and that often means chaos and fans getting irate.

Indeed last night Bournemouth suffered just this fate, although the attendance was only 7,595, many of these turned up on the evening to buy a ticket and where faced with long queues with many missing the start of the game and a fair number a chunk of the first half despite the ground being only around 2/3 full.

Many Bournemouth fans have vented their fury on social media, but the fact remains that much of the chaos would not have happened if they had bought tickets in advance. In fact those that had bought tickets on line had to endure queueing to pick up their tickets.

Saints have now taken to their own social media and urged those who are intending to go to St mary's this evening to buy online and select the print@home option .

This means they can print the ticket and then go straight to the turnstile and scan in the bar code rather than have to physically pick up the ticket on the night and risk getting caught up in the type of chaos that Bournemouth fans endured.
