Rams 2-6 Arsenal - Match report

Another six goal drubbing at home.

This time to a side worth every penny of the admission fee and just two more games before Derby County are put out of their Premier League misery. At least we can say we scored a couple of goals.

Ye olde kamikaze home guard defence did for the Rams yet again; Moore and Stubbs, while game for a scrap, looked like trundling tanks as the likes of Walcott and van Persie ran rings round them and as for Andy Todd; well what can you say? Isn't it time he was taken somewhere quiet and done away with? (So to speak!)

There were some positives incredibly; despite these relentless defensive collapses the Rams are clearly playing their best passing football since George Burley was running the show and for half an hour we gave it a good go. To cap it all off Rob Earnshaw managed his first league goal, a pitiful showing for his record transfer fee but pleasing nonetheless.

Billy Davies spent a cool £9.5million on Earnshaw, Kenny Miller and Claude Davis, and that kids is where it largely began to go wrong; imagine what we could have done with that money but at least it's nearly over now; Adam Pearson has stated that three deals are virtually complete and whilst that may include the interesting prospect of Ruben Zadkovich it's still another couple of faces to look forward to as soon as this dreadful season is done with.

I've sort of given up on doing actual match reports this season, figuring that the official site and the DET can cover the actual match action we are being forced to witness; next season, assuming I'm still in the chair, I'll hopefully return to some descriptions of what is going on instead of the pattern of complaints I've resorted to for much of this season.

For now however, I'm going to sit safe in the knowledge that I've got a couple of nice football days ahead with a trip to Blackburn and then a winnable clash against Reading on the last day; if we can play some good football in those games we may actually pick up the odd point but given Darren Moore's pass to Bendtner last night and the likely prospect of it happening again, perhaps not.
