Colchester United have completed the signing of Carlisle United's Simon Hackney, after a revised six figure offer was accepted by the Cumbrian club.
Hackney follows Alan Maybury and Marc Tierney to the club as Paul Lambert's third permanent signing, and Lambert was pleased to get his man.
Lambert told the U's official site, "I saw him in action for Carlisle against Crewe whilst I was out of work at the beginning of the season.
I have had him watched since and he is another, like Marc Tierney, who I felt could do a job at this level. He is direct and will add to what we already have in the squad here."
However, the pacy wideman will not be part of the U's squad when they make the long trip north to face Carlisle this weekend, as agreed by the two clubs as part of the deal.
