Reflections of a bygone era 08:55 - May 18 with 1322 viewsDaBurgh

Even though I'm not British I still get nostalgic for stuff like this, must be my age.
These footballers lead normal lives but are worth 10's of......... Thousands.
Spiffingly good stuff.

When you reach the place beyond thoughts, the only thing you'll find is love and the only purpose of life becomes to ease the suffering of others.

Funnily enough I spotted that last night. A lovely little film which looks like the early 60s. It reminded me of the days I started going to Loftus Road, though that was later on. We all romanticise our past to some degree but it was a great time to be a football fan.

I thought of my old dad.
I often wonder what he'd make of things now - football played when TV tells them, no tube at the weekend, security guards on shop doorways, cars with exhausts that sound like machine guns….

It’s from April 1960 based on the match and final score.
My Dad had moved up to London by then and started going to the occasional Spurs game with his mates, wonder if he was in the crowd somewhere.

I love those Look at Life programmes on the Talking Pictures channel. They’re only 15 minutes long but are a snapshot of life usually in the 60s. They made dozens of them.
