It's a big call, but outcome bias will ultimately dictate whether it's seen as the right call I guess - a few big claims from crosses today will have us all saying what a bold and necessary decision it was.
But this, the Walsh fiasco plus the Kolli mystery does give me nagging concerns about what the vibe is behind the scenes, which could be important if we find ourselves struggling at the wrong end of the table this winter.
I dont know, maybe as supporters we make more of a meal out of this stuff than it deserves.
My mates in Sheffield reckon this UKIP / counter demo is going to be quite big and quite aggy, so might be a lot of police around and potentially pubs shut.
I used to live in Sheffield and I don't remember the Star being this full of odd typos and grammatical errors!
"The protest is part of a âmass deportations tourâ by UKIP, which is running on a proposal for a five-year freeze on all immigration and âthe complete rejection of wokeness, trans-Ideology and to stop the persistent attack of the family unitâ.
In response to the march, the Sheffield Communities against Racism and Fascism (SCARF) organisation - which was founded after the riots August 2024 like was seen outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers - and Stand Up to Racism are planning a counter protest"
I feel like only Sheffield could form an antifa group called SCARF. đ
And is UKIP really protesting about the persistent attack "of the family unit?". I also didn't actually know UKIP was still a thing.
And wtf is going on with the grammar in that second paragraph?
This point has been made endlessly - that demanding that the manager throws players under the bus in official interviews and provides a detailed synopsis of what is said in the dressing room is neither likely nor advisable. If you want the warts and all exposĂŠ it's not coming from an interview with Tyler, wait for the autobiography.
I've pretty much left the main platforms too (although have enjoyed Letterboxd, which this very site drew my attention to). And that's been a good decision for me here and now. But ultimately the genie's not going back in to the bottle. And I have to cling on to the belief that in an alternative timeline social media isn't as toxic as it is in the here and now - that it's current incarnation is contingent on various things that are not inevitable: concentration of wealth with tech-bro oligarchs; culture wars being used to divide and distract; failing political classes, hopeless and nihilistic populaces etc. All of these are far from inevitable imo, and big factors in online spaces being such hellscapes
Twenty five vocalists from the MENA region. Charity single raising money for Palestine, translates as "we will return". It's been likened to an Arab "We Are The World"
I do find it odd that people are so outraged by the idea that wearing a poppy is a politically symbolic act. I mean, view it as commendable, important, poignant etc by all means - but if we understand "political" to mean "relating to public affairs" then of course it has political meaning to it, Shirley.
My sauces tell me that whilst the tides ebb and flow, at the most recent gathering of the "To Dick About Or Not Dick About" committee, "Dick About" had the numbers over the "Stop Dicking About" faction.
I saw him DJ at an out door thing last year, he was the highlight of the day. Very eclectic, but big grooves all the way, great fun. And brilliant seeing someone DJing with 45s on a roster full of digital DJs playing tedious techno. Reminded me a bit of a Mr Scruff festival set back in the day.
This thread's like when you're walking home at 4.30am and you turn a corner into a dark and scary part of town populated only by a handful of crazy people shouting at each other
