I like how Tuchel is sending the message that nobody walks into the team just because of who they are. Bellingham is a very good player, maybe one day a great one, but his ego is an issue. Nothing wrong with confidence in your ability but you aren't bigger than the team or the manager. Easy to forget he's still only 22 and has plenty of maturing to do. Tuchel is preparing for the reality of having to make changes and not having everyone available which is good to see. |

Well there you go. I remember the first one of those but no memory of the others. Probably coincides with the arrival of Netflix etc and many alternatives to free to air TV. I was never much of a cricket fan when living in England and aside from taking a bit more interest when I had little choice after first moving here, have clearly paid little attention for quite a long time. |

I've lived in Australia 25 years and in that time very few touring teams have won here. England once, India once or twice and I think South Africa once. Its very difficult as the conditions here are so different to elsewhere plus the home team is usually pretty good. Also not helped in my view by England tours being over the Christmas period when players would rather be at home. Wood already injured. About 35 with a history of injuries, what better than to select him for a gruelling 5 test tour here. If he was a footballer QPR would have signed him. [Post edited 13 Nov 22:47]

Pretty obvious really that its to prevent lip reading. The media are all over anything that might be seen as controversial, trying to monetise it, and absolutely everything is captured these days. |

Probably a lot richer too with all the money saved on going out drinking in the hope of meeting someone. |

There is a systematic push to get rid of the BBC and basically have the right control the entire media instead of just 90% of it. I imagine they've been looking for an opportunity like this for a long time. The same people with all the usual far right arguments are those who constantly state "defund the BBC". The relevant heads behind/responsible for this issue should roll but that's it. That's all that would happen at a big company and everyone would move on. Murdoch's media empire survived the phone hacking scandal (and whatsherface made a huge profit out of it), yet people want the BBC destroyed over this? |

We'll be fine. I'll go back to Clive's mantra of things never being as good or as bad as they seem. We have players new to the division who clearly have ability but its going to be up and down for a while. Mid table. As you were. What would we have given at the start of the season for being 9 clear of the bottom 3 at this stage? |

Am I the only one who thinks Stejskal has become a far better keeper in people's memories than he ever was at the time? |

I think it was John Sillett, ex Cov manager, who once after a game said something like "there are 0-0 draws and there are 0-0 draws, and that was a 0-0 draw". Indeed. |

I went to the Sydney show on Friday night. Now I've heard people talk about the previous shows and how brilliant they were, using words like epic and biblical. Being a bit of a cynic I thought they were maybe exaggerating. They weren't, OMG they weren't. What. A. Night. Two hours or so of absolute euphoria amongst 70 odd thousand. Brilliant set list, unbelievable atmosphere. I did worry that an Australian crowd might have too many tourist types that only knew Wonderwall, but that certainly wasn't the case. Everyone on their feet the entire time and plenty of Brits there to help ramp up the noise. If you could bottle that feeling you'd be richer than Elon Musk. As somebody mentioned earlier in the thread, no other band could have an entire stadium with that level of energy for a whole show. I last saw them 23 years ago in a small venue here and they were sensational then too. On Friday my 22 year old daughter and her boyfriend came to the gig. She's been playing their music ever since. My wife was too pregnant to want to go into a GA standing area/mosh pit with me in late 2002, but was with me on Friday. The feeling of reconnection to that exciting time (for music) of the early 90s, to being young, to the feeling the songs gave you then and still give you now, and to see the younger generation loving it all just as much. Magical. I wish we could do it all again tonight. So, so good. [Post edited 9 Nov 3:38]

Unfortunately the whole poppy/remembrance thing has been partly hijacked by the far right, Farage/Robinson brigade which turns some people off. In the last few years we've seen endless poppy related posts on social media from early/mid October. Why? We never needed this before. Just observe it if you wish to and quietly stay out of it if you don't. Once again this year, deliberately provocative stories about James McLean are appearing regularly with all the usual, predictable comments. Now one of the Irish female players is also being targeted because she's chosen not to have it on her shirt. Wearing poppies was always a personal choice, some people are obviously more connected to it than others, especially those with family members who were directly involved in conflicts. This should be respected of course, but this current trend of trying to force it on everyone isn't helpful. |

Was at that game and in Paris the next morning where I got a "urrrrs" in a metro station and had to give a match report to the guy. Good times. |

Charlton won 3-0 at Ipswich recently, so it isn't a given you will struggle against them. |

Seen Jimmy Carr twice. First time I was literally in pain from laughing so much, he was superb. Second time didn't quite hit the same heights, but still very good. A personal favourite is Mark Watson, seen him several times. A sort of nervous, rambling comedian but both me and the wife love his shows. He admits to suffering with anxiety and mid one show had to go off for a few mins after getting an attack on stage. When he returned the crowd got right behind him which was brilliant to see. We even got a selfie with him after that show. [Post edited 31 Oct 2:12]
