Wrinkly Wanderers.
at 19:37 20 Sep 2017

This is the joint announcement I expect in the coming week :- In association with the EFL and Players Union Welfare Derby County are to open a rest and rehabilitation centre behind the training centre for old and disabled players, all at Derby's expense.

Cup Football
at 19:23 13 Sep 2017

Before I start this rant can I say Gary Rowett is a good manager and like Warnock can man manage with the best but here goes:- The Carabao Cup appears to have been a thorn in the side of our manager and he has virtually kicked any fixtures into touch by selecting weak teams. Why should supporters pay good money to travel away on a terrible night to watch a second string team. With stronger selection we could have won but I don't think the manager cared. One last thought. When the F A cup starts will we throw that away as well?

humiliation
at 14:17 27 Aug 2017

It seems as if every season we try to subject our supporters to ever more humiliation. Against Sheff U we did not give 1 goal away, not even 2 goals away but 3, do me an effing favour. How many more ridiculous statistics do we have to suffer.
On an ironic note can I say the only positive was Russells brilliant low drive for the second goal. If that had been at the other end it would have sailed 10 feet over the bar. Still we have dinosaur centre forwards that even at my age I might be able to catch.

With the latest defeat by Blackburn I am starting to panic because we need at least 54 points to save us from relegation and I do not think our players or manager are up to it. Every club who's next fixture is against the Rams must be rubbing their hands in anticipation. What a bloody mess.

The Derby Enigma. Oct 2016.
at 22:32 19 Oct 2016

As always our beloved team are giving hope and disappointment in equal measure as we bemused supporters watch this average season wend its way towards Christmas. Personally I think we will struggle to get a top 6 place but football has a funny way of turning all predictions on their head. Okay Mac is back and maybe he will sprinkle some magic dust around the IPro and obtain that miracle, but I doubt it. So what is the problem. The way I see it we have some very good players but the mix is wrong for the systems we play and only the manager can sort that out with some astute signings around the turn of the year.
Imagine the most perfect 100 piece jigsaw puzzle that is complete but the manufacturers have 3 types of cut and the box you have bought has a mixture of all 3 jig cuts, yes the full picture is there but the puzzle cannot be completed because the pieces do not fit.
This is the way I see our current team, imperfect, not because we do not have the talent but because the pieces just do not gel so here's to the future and Mac solving the puzzle that is the Derby enigma.

Now you don't see it, now you do.

After watching 120 minutes of the Carlisle game I was lost for words. How can so many footballers be so inept when it comes to shooting the ball between the posts, after all they train every day and shooting accurately must be a part of the training. So I began to watch the penalty taking with some trepidation but surprise sureprise my feelings were out of kilter with the reality. To say Derby were good was an understatement, they were terrific, so here is the dilemma, if they are that accurate from the spot how come they cannot do it from 20 yards?

manager 16/17
at 14:32 21 May 2016

Who will Derby appoint as the new manager, will it be Pearson, Sherwood, Warnock or Birminghams guy. I did not see anything in Sherwoods skills at Aston Villa to convince me he would succeed with us but personally I would give Warnock or Pearson a shot. Whoever they choose it has to be right this time or the consequences could be dire.

The little shock of horrors.
at 15:55 14 May 2016

Once again the high hopes of rams fans have seen our clubs season end in desperate circumstances, and yes we still have one game to play but at 3-0 nil down the conclusion can only be a heavier deficit. Frankly I feel sorry for the supporters who have bought tickets for the away leg and know their trip is in vain. As for the team, their attitude and ability were frankly desperate and unless certain players are sold or gotten rid of I see us in a lower position next season, and as for the managerial position, well their is no substitute for experience as exhibited by Neil Warnocks ability to extricate Rotherham from an almost certain relegation position. The club needs a top to bottom change starting with a good and experienced manager and the acquisition of players who actually have the speed to outrun the oppositions defence allied with good ball control ability.

Paul Clement leaving?

Rumours in todays press suggest PC may move to Bayern as the number two. With ex managers such as Moles, Pearson, and Brendan Rogers on the loose who would you fancy to take over if the event happens.

Take The Easy Way Mr. Clement.

I applaud PC for admitting his mistake in substituting a defender in the Middlesboro match but I believe he made a bigger mistake in the Leeds fixture. At the end of the season points become part of your league statistics and 3 points against whoever mean exactly that. I would have played my strongest team against Leeds United and I am certain we would now be 2 points better off than we are.

Young talent we should be assessing.
at 20:56 19 Dec 2015

I have recently watched a 17 year old forward called Kevin O'Hara who plays for Falkirk and was stunned by his mature ability. He has speed and a good shot on him but what impressed me most was his spatial awareness of other team players and his sublime passing ability. If Derby wish to enhance the academy I suggest they weigh this guy up because he looks one for the future.

Which is the Rams most improved position this 2015/16 season?
at 11:36 28 Nov 2015

As we fans luxuriate from the riches of our fellow fan and benefactor's signings I ask one question, what position has made the most difference to our top status, is it Magic Johnson, Jacob Butterfield or any of the other guys, yes by accident or design we seem to have fallen on a terrific new full back pairing but for me the most improved position is our goalkeeper. Early on against Cardiff he was confronted by 3 of their forwards but made a tremendous game-changing save and last night at Hull kept us in command by dint of 2 superb saves. Feel free to differ fans.

Can we hold on to Chris Martin
at 12:10 20 Oct 2015

The outstanding form of our star centre forward whilst being wonderful raises an ugly question. How long before the big boys come calling with a 12 million pound offer or even more that cannot be refused. With 18 months to run on his contract and all deals now being led by agents it seems the highest bid could entice him away. Ley us just cross our fingers and pray on this one.
On another topic called Bradley Johnson I thought he didn't just look like a 6 million pound man but probably a 10 mill man. What a ball winner and I thought his play was equal to the great Dave Mackay. Some comparison that.

And what does the future hold for the Rams?
at 13:27 20 Jul 2015

I said in a previous post that we supporters will need 10 completed competitive matches to truly judge the clubs progress, and hopefully it will be for the best. There have been many comings and just a few goings so it is hard to judge how our club will perform but of one thing I am certain, whoever is signed to bolster our midfield WILL perform better because in the second half of last season that was the worst defence I have ever seen. Yes I wish Albentosa all the best in his new career direction but please, what expert honestly thought he would improve the team. As for the Rams they turned into a team where possession was paramount, became a religion, and subsequently had the slowest build up and counter attack in the league. In my opinion faster and more direct attacking has to be part of the new era or we are doomed to mid-table obscurity.
Hope my down beat post is kicked into touch by future brilliant results so COYR.

What is going on at Derby?
at 14:43 19 Apr 2015

As an perplexed observer at Huddersfield yesterday I ask what is going on? When we took the field Derby's defence was up to the task and we took the lead and looked comfortable to win the game, but suddenly Zak Whitbread our outstanding defender was injured and left the field and our defence became instantly third rate and unable to defend. As with Chris Martin we are becoming a team who our management are blaming sub-standard performances on because of the absence of a single player. Listen folks and supporters, if one player makes the difference between a bad performance and a good performance then our squad is not up to the job.
At half time the 4000 supporters booed the team off the pitch, a first time ever for me, and one that was richly deserved. When the team re-appeared they stayed in the North end away from us although they were due to attack in the South end towards us. Yes the forwards to their credit got us out of this unholy mess with a result but why oh why did the team as a unit shun us at the end of the game with only Eric Steele clapping towards us? Shame on You. We gave you Premiership support yesterday which is more than the defence, post Whitbread did.
A final question to throw into the arena, why is Jake Buxton not available?

Defensive duffers hit the buffers.
at 11:43 4 Mar 2015

When I went to Rotherham and watched our abject defending for the home sides 3 goals I thought oh well, every team is allowed one poor game, but onwards and upwards. What I did not contemplate was this was the start of our slide downhill to becoming probably the worst defence in the division and I don't just mean the back 4 but also Granty and Mascarella.
Carry on playing like this and we can forget winning the championship and just hope we scrape into the play offs.
Albentosa, Warnock, and hopefully Eustace might get a game against Birmingham, let's face it they could not do any worse.

Darren Bent

If this guy arrives I think it is good news for us. Watched him play for Brighton when we beat them and thought he was their most dangerous player, also it gives SM time to assess his suitability for next season should we get to the Prem. My opinion, good timing, smart move.

A top 6 struggle.
at 15:21 13 Dec 2014

For the second consecutive away game we have been out fought. out manoeuvred and outclassed. If Grant hadn't been in outstanding form we would have lost 6-0. Time and time again both full backs plus Bryson and Hendrick just drilled the ball forward into the chests of Middlesboro players. This standard is just not good enough if we expect to get into the premiership and I believe it is not just the forwards that need strengthening but other departments as well. If we have the finances to buy better players all good and well but if we haven't I see only disappointment for another season.
