Wickham Wins Cap in England Defeat Tuesday, 16th Nov 2010 19:05 by TWTD.co.uk Striker Connor Wickham won his first England U21 cap as a 66th minute sub but couldn’t prevent his side from falling to a 2-0 defeat in Germany. England were already a goal down when Middlesbrough keeper Jason Steele was sent off in an incident which led to the penalty from which Germany scored their second. With Steele having come on as a sub at half-time, Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury was forced to go in goal for the final 32 minutes. Wickham had one or two lively moments during his time on the field and flicked England’s first serious shot through to the keeper soon after coming on. However, with Germany having the man advantage throughout his time on the field, it was always going to be an uphill battle for the 17-year-old and the rest of Stuart Pearce’s side.
