FA CUP 3RD ROUND: Rams Away To Crawley..... Or Swindon!
FA CUP 3RD ROUND: Rams Away To Crawley..... Or Swindon!
Sunday, 28th Nov 2010 23:58 by Daniel J Sewart

The Rams will once again have to avoid being the victim of ‘giant killers’ as they face a lower league opponent in the third round of the FA Cup.

Crawley, who reside in the Blue Square and Swindon of League One were locked up at 1-1 after 90 minutes in last weeks second round fixture.

The replay of that match is next week and the winner will host Derby on either the 8th or 9th of January.

Play-off finalists in 09/10, Swindon Town have struggled to repeat their good form so far this campaign as they languish in 20th spot. Crawley on the other hand are flying in the Blue Square, sitting 2nd and beginning to dream of promotion.

The FA cup has a long history of upsets and big clubs being put to the sword by their lower placed cousins. Derby County has been as guilty as anyone over the last decade of serving up poor performances in both cup competitions.

A new attitude and a new style of play will hopefully bring a new attitude and end result to such games. The biggest worry is the Rams must travel for the fixture and that is the currently the most pressing problem for the team.

Hopefully by January all concerns of the team getting results on the road will have been laid to rest and they can get past the 3rd round and beyond.
