Suffolk FA are holding their first Grassroots Football Festival at Portman Road this Saturday. The event, which takes place between 10am and 4pm, is open to the public and free of charge.

The festival will showcase Suffolk FA’s work in grassroots football via demonstrations, tournaments and workshops.

Activities include a skills session for coaches and players delivered by the FA Tesco Skills Team and showcase matches for both mainstream and disabled footballers.

The festival will also have a demonstration from The Premier H Project, a partnership between Ipswich Housing Action Group and Suffolk FA which provides regular football opportunities for homeless and vulnerable adults in the Ipswich area.

Various workshops will be set up throughout the day providing information and support about welfare, football development, affiliated help clinics and a guide to social networking websites, as well as games and refreshment stalls.

Adam Watts, the assistant referee at this year’s FA Cup final, will also be attending the festival as a special guest and talking to young referees about his experiences in the game and career progression.

There will also be an opportunity to have fun with ITFC Charitable Trust’s ‘Hexegoal’ which is a brand new piece of skills equipment designed to improve a player’s technical ability and coordination.

The festival is free of charge to attend, but entry is by ticket only. These can be obtained by contacting Suffolk FA on 01449 616606 or by email here.
