tRAMsfer news: Clough Chasing Seasider Striker & Midfield Duo?
tRAMsfer news: Clough Chasing Seasider Striker & Midfield Duo?
Monday, 18th Jul 2011 14:58 by Daniel J Sewart

The Rams are being mentioned in a few transfer rumours doing the rounds at the moment with links to a striker and two different types of midfielders.

A Move From The Seaside?

Over the weekend skysports.com reported that Derby is one of a few clubs working to convince Blackpool striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher to look for a change of scenery.

Taylor-Fletcher held his own in the top flight last season, managing 5 goals in 23 games but the 30-year-old's contract expired earlier this summer and even though Blackpool activated a clause, which extends it for a further 12 months, it seems the players head could still be turned.

The Seasider’s have tabled a new long-term offer to the player but as yet it remains unsigned and word is that the Rams, Hull and Portsmouth are all in the hunt should he decide he has had enough of sea air.

Gary holds a unique record having been the only player ever to score in all of the top 6 leagues in English football and there is no doubt the 6 foot tall hit man would fit the bill for the Rams as Clough continues his search for a dominant Centre forward with proven experience at Championship level.

Having scored 24 goals in 151 appearances, his form in the top flight would suggest he would make a valuable addition to any Championship club should he be prised away from the Pool.

Perhaps a former Seasider who happens to be our Captain may be of assistance with this one!

Former Young Hammer Wants England Return?

Over the weekend the Rams were also linked to young Dundalk star Daniel Kearns.

A former West Ham youngster, Kearns has been making massive waves with some brilliant performances as an attacking midfielder in the Airtricity Premier League.

At 19-years of age the former Hammer could be looking for a move back to England and the Rams along with Blackpool, Burnley and Peterborough have all sent scouts to monitor the player.

Dundalk is believed to be open to offers and the Rams may move in for the kill if they see the youngster fitting into their long term strategy and secure a star on the rise.

Rams Still In For Eustace?

The DET and various sources have reported that DCFC are still in the market for former loan player and Watford Captain John Eustace.

It is no secret that Nigel is desperate for an old, experienced head to complete his midfield and after an impressive 10/11 season, Eustace may find his way back to Derby.

Clough was asked if a move for the Hornet could be on:

"Yes, nothing has changed in our view of John."

"We have only got a couple of players over 30 at the moment in Russell Anderson and Gareth Roberts, which is probably unusual for most Championship clubs.”

"It is difficult to coach some lads to talk and organise. Some have it naturally and it is difficult to put it into those who don't have it."

Some media outlets have gone as far to suggest an offer is on the table for Eustace and with that in mind, we should see the situation resolve itself one way or the other.
