The manager said we needed a couple more players, the fans said we need a couple more players, Tom Glick said we didn't. We asked our Facebook fans and scoured our forum to see what the Derby faithful think about the situation.

From Facebook:

If u look at the Watford game. They were all over us. Don't know how we managed to ride our luck. Then out the blue Steve Davies hits a 2nd wonder strike of the season and it goes in. 3pts. Cov get lucky pen 3pts. Swings and roundabouts not...

Simon Welch The team coach arrived same time as me....one hour before KO...is that enough preparation time???

Players looked half with it!

We're a better team than last year but still need what Glick promised..... Experienced Striker and play-making midfielder...

Mark Barthorpe

How many times did Ben Davies put fantastic balls into the box that shouted, "Come and get me"? Too many that's the answer and how many times I did our 'forwards' bust a gut to get on the end of em?

It's quite evident that we need no nonsense centre forward that's not afraid of messing his hair up and getting on the end of these Ben Davies balls. Steve Howard is shouting come and get me, so come on Glick and co. dig past those moths in your wallets and give Clough the cash.

The motto for DCFC should be "It's worth remembering in this day and age there is always somebody better off than you"

Jamie ward needs to look up, he wasted ay least one excellent chance. No way was that a penalty. No overlapping full backs and seemed to give Coventry too much time on the ball.

Same thing every season, we'll lose to forest and we'll all get depressed.

From The Forum:

With the ref for giving a penalty after guessing it was a push he didn't see. It wasn't and it changed the game.

With the board and management for not grabbing the opportunity and getting an experienced midfielder and striker when we where on top of the league. Now the moment has gone.

Ultimately, more quality in the final third - in terms of final ball and finishing - will more often make such incompetent refereeing inconsequential, because there would be more of an end product to all that neat and tidy play that we saw.

Caution in the transfer market is the message from Glick - but promoted teams are already steaming past us, and we're in danger of being caught up by the rabble including F*rest.

Will any of the many quality Prem players now available on loan be picked up by our astute "transferteers" by then - or has the bubble of optimism already burst?

Or will the Flagman yet prove to be our not-so-secret weapon against the Red Wooden People next Saturday?

We desperately need a quality playmaker - but I'd suggest that we have one in the squad already. Clough was asked about Cywka after yesterday's game, and he should be in the 16 for the next game imho.

There's been talk about Tyson giving us something extra when he's back, but I'm not convinced he's better than what's out there already.

I think some of the players we've brought in are really solid - ~Bryson looks good - and we have some good players injured. But we all know we are short on quality, and without it we won't trouble the top 6.

We didn't play badly at all yesterday, and we looked solid at the back for long spells. But we were nothing special.

Time to give Cywka a go?

Well it was my 1st game I was able to attend and having not witnessed any previous matches I was optimistic that we would come away with 3 points based on our league position and previous performances.

I must say Coventry were a very poor side and were we any better not in my opinion ok we were solid at the back and well organised but that's it.

Nothing up front that looked like causing them problems no creative midfielder pulling the strings the only time we caused problems in the box was from a corner.

Maybe the penalty was a turning point but we weren't going to win the game and a 0-0 result would have been the best we could have hoped for which Clough would have come out and said playing away from home a point is a good result.

Any other top side would have put 2 or 3 past them on Sat and I expect Coventry to be in the bottom 6 come the end of the season I hope we aren't with them.

I'm finding it difficult to blame Clough if he has identified the players that he wants but the board are unwilling to part with the funds to acquire them what can you do.

It’s ok saying we can only bring new players in when we let some of the higher earners leave but who is left all the targets have stayed or moved on so we have missed the boat.

Whoever we now sign is going to be a risk as these will be people who we didn't want but the situation has made us look at 2nd best.

I think we will be nearer the bottom six than the top six if we persist with the present squad & don't add much needed quality to it like we were promised by Glick & Clough!

Tyson’s not going to be the answer, Barker will help but the defence is not were our problems lie surely one of them people who are in charge of this club can work that one out, or can they?

Agree that it's the board that control the spend but it's the manager that decides where to spend it, who to spend it on - or where to strengthen the team. And the biggest problem we have with the squad is that it's lop-sided.

We have two proper full-backs, and about 7-8 forwards-cum-wide-players. More goalkeepers than centre-midfielders. We all know we have to live within a budget; we've not really used that on a variety of options.

All of those 7-8 players are of a similar quality and play a similar game. So we can't change a game with substitutions, because we only have like-for-like.

That's great if you're winning and want to carry on using Plan A, but it's not so good when Plan A is getting you nowhere.
