Note To Nigel - Please Don't Play Forest Into Form!
Note To Nigel - Please Don't Play Forest Into Form!

Derby managed to help both Burnley and Coventry find some form after both teams had found points harder to come by than a Forest fan who is not related to their in-laws.

Instead of putting teams low on confidence to the sword and continuing their historical start to the season – the Rams found a way to once again plant doubt in the minds of their fans.

Sure we had some dodgy decisions along the way from referee’s - who would be better suited to testing books for a publisher of brail books - but you make your own luck and recently the Rams have made little of that for themselves.

The finishing off of some very good build up work has been poor with the likes of B.Davies and Bryson working hard to get the ball into the right positions without finding a proven goal scorer on hand to finish of their sublime skill.

The lack of a general in midfield has also become more noticeable as the Rams really need a dictator to marshal the troops during the match and ensure the team does not lose its shape or focus.

Despite these glaring deficiencies in the team it seems Tom Glick is not prepared to reach into his or anyone else’s pockets. That is except the pockets of fans of the club - who he happily accepts revenue from - despite not delivering on the promises made to the faithful and requests from his team’s manager.

Despite the lack of reinforcements, on Saturday the Rams have a massive chance to bury the ghosts of last season’s devastating loss at the Forest ground. With the home team under immense pressure – if Derby can get in the faces of Nottingham players early - then they could easily inflict a similar rout on their midlands rival.

On top of the restoration of some pride – the most important reason to chase the win would be the fact it would take the Rams to 5 and 2 which goes some way to restoring the sensational start to the season and definitely looks much better than 4 and 3.

A win puts the team back into early season calculations and also gives fans a restoration of the hope for 11/12 that the last two weeks has sapped.

When the Rams enter the arena tomorrow I can only hope that they show the travelling fans the fight and desire they deserve. There should be no shortage of history lessons and education for players on why these matches mean so much with Clough at the helm.

Nigel tries to convey a feeling of calm and a ‘one week at a time’ mentality but he let his guard down when speaking to the official site about the match. It seems this one means a lot more than just any other game:

"There's an element of inspiration to put things right after last year, when you look at the squad we have now, there will be very few players from last year who will start on Saturday. It might be a good thing; we're not sure.”

"The defeat and performance hurt us a lot last season and we hope it hurt those who are still here just as much. The new boys may not have played in this game before, but they will have a feel for the disappointment having been around the place for long enough.”

"The majority of the goals were mistakes last year and it was a self-inflicted defeat which was nowhere near good enough. It was my lowest ebb as a manger, especially as it was a local derby."

It could be fiery, it could be a let down but most importantly for me – whatever the team does - please don’t play Forest back in to anything resembling form.

We are all quite happy watching the Tree’s stumble and struggle in the league and we need not give them any help or assistance in finding even a faint pulse for their season.

At the same time Nigel and his team must once again locate the pulse that is fading in our own.

Come On Ewe Rams!!

I am feeling really positive for this match. Forest have deserved far more from there last 2 games, if we can sort the defence out to the standard of last season then we will have enough to win this one. Thats a big IF though.
