Awesome Foursome Set For Rams Return!!
Awesome Foursome Set For Rams Return!!
Tuesday, 15th Nov 2011 12:47 by Daniel J Sewart

The words 'good' and 'news' are rarely featured in the same sentence when it comes to Derby County in recent years but a host of big name Rams are set to feature for the reserves tomorrow night.

The long awaited return of the Rams Captain and all action centre back Shaun Barker, begins tomorrow night when the second string take on Sheffield Wednesday.

Other Rams favourites will be hoping to make it a long awaited reunion as Paul Green and Chris Riggott should also take part in the clash.

Rams fans will be all smiles and fingers crossed as an incident free hit-out could signal that all three could be in contention for first team action sooner than later.

The reserves match will come a little early for John Brayford who still could feature Saturday when the Rams take on Hull.

Nigel Clough was hopeful Brayford will be ready for action in what is a crucial match for Derby:

"John is coming on very well and we are hoping he will be ok. He will not train with the rest of the squad in the early part of this week but we will look towards Friday and see how he is.”

"We've missed him at both ends of the pitch. He gives us impetus going forward and also he is a very good defender.”

"Defensively, you can get away with things for only so long. We have just conceded six goals in the last two games and I think we are ready now for John to come back in and help shore things up."

There are no doubt the names Barker, Green and Brayford added to the Rams team sheet would make a massive difference to the structure and strength of the squad.

Consistency in midfield and defence has been a constant issue and being able to throw Green into a midfield that misfires plus Barker and Brayford into a leaky defence - will give fans hope that the recent slide can be halted before it becomes terminal for the Rams top six aspirations.

Should Chris Riggott also be able to halt his horror stretch of injuries then he too would be welcome addition to the team as his undoubted talent would be a great asset.

Too many times in recent seasons we have lamented and discussed the Rams terrible run of injuries. We can only hope that the law of averages begins to kick in and balance things out a little.

It is way overdue that Derby players can get a good run of games under their belts and in turn push on to build on what is a good table position.

Looking forward to the return of Barker & Green?
