Central defender Kevin Long is expected to join John Coleman's Rochdale FC on Friday as he reunites with the manager he worked with at Accrington.

Despite only being given the keys to the manager's office on Tuesday, new Dale boss Coleman has been quick to act and has raided Burnley to secure the loan signing of Kevin Long.

Long is a tall 21 year old central defender who has had two spells working with Coleman at Accrington. Having joined the Clarets in November 2009, with reports suggesting that he turned down offers from Everton and Celtic to sign with the Turf Moor club.

Despite not having played for Burnley's first team as of yet, he remains very highly thought of by Burnley manager Eddie Howe. He's been quoted as saying: “Kevin has done really well at Accrington. He has been a really consistent performer for them and scored a few goals as well. We will have a look at him and see how he has progressed. We will see how much he has improved and where he’s at right now and then perhaps look to get him back out, maybe to League One"

It has been reported that he has been training with us since Tuesday, with a loan deal struck on Friday.
