Craig Pawson from Sheffield is the man in charge of Tuesday's clash with Port Vale.

We have a change of referee for Tuesday’s game with Port Vale, as the originally appointed official, David Webb, is now handling the match between Barnsley and Leicester.

This will be Mr Pawson’s second visit to Spotland this season, as he was also here in September for the 4-1 home defeat of Hereford.

On that occasion his only notable decision was to send off the visitors’ Ryan Green close to full-time for two yellow cards.

Mr Pawson has also been in charge of Port Vale this term, as he was in the middle for their FA Cup tie with Stevenage in November.

Altogether this season, Craig has refereed 19 games, showing 56 yellow cards and three red.

He is now in his second campaign at this level, with his first Football League game being Dale’s 0-0 draw at Grimsby on the opening day of last season. A few weeks earlier he had refereed the pre-season friendly with Stockport.

Going further back in time, Craig was one of the assistants at the excellent Carling Cup tie against Norwich in August 2007.

Craig ended that season as the top rated referee in the Conference, an accolade that was marked by him taking charge of the play-off final between Exeter and Cambridge.
