A tribute to Bradley Wright Phillips.

Regular readers of TUI will know that last season I was a regualr critic of Bradley Wright Phillips, in all honesty I still think I was right to be such, George Burley seemed to want to justify such a big outlay on the player and BWP himself was thrown in at the deep end without the experience to cope and in the first half of last season often found it disfficult to deliver a fact made more frustrating as he was keeping players in better form out of the team ie Kenwynne Jones.

In the second half of the season Bradley often found himself on the bench and it was only then that he really started to contribute to the team and in the run in put in some good performances and scored the odd vital goal or two.

This season we have seen a completely different player, he seems to have worked hard at the side of his game that was letting him down and is now a more complete player that he was a year ago.

Credit To Himself

To his credit he didnt moan when he wasnt in the team last season he simply got his head down and waited for his chance and now it has come he has grasped it with both hands and has started recent games through merit and not as last year when he seemed to be in to let the manager prove a point.

Sadly on Saturday Bradley pulled a hamstring which looks set to sideline him for a week or two, but Im surewhen he is fit again he will challenge for a place in the starting line up, so hats off to Bradley Wright Phillips, in these days of players thinking that everything should be given to him on a plate he has been a credit to his family name, a credit to Southampton FC and perhaps more importantly a credit to himself.
