Get Your Jackett And Head For Rhyl

Put Your Jackett On And Head To Rhyl

After his unveiling yesterday at Morgan's Hotel in Swansea, Jackett will get the first chance to have a look at his players in competitive action as they look to reach their third final in the competition - the previous two both ending in defeats.

If the Swans see through to the final then it will be played at the Vetch whereas a Rhyl win will see them entertain Wrexham for the £100,000 first prize. Rhyls will be no pushovers as they currently top the Welsh Premier League as well as already booking their place in the Welsh Cup final next month as well as they bid for their own type of treble.

Jackett told BBC Sport "I'll be looking for certain things from my players, it's the start of a new regime, I want them to impose themselves, but we have every respect for the way Rhyl have been going this season and it will be tough at their ground."

Leading scorer Lee Trundle of course started his career at Rhyl before joining Wrexham and he is looking forward to a trip to his old hunting ground "I've still got a lot of friends back there It was a good club for me because it gave me my chance to get into League football," he told BBC Wales Sport.

"It's the first time I've gone back there to play since I left so I'm looking forward to it.

"I went back just after I signed for Wrexham to watch one of the games, but this will be the first time I've played there."

What formation and line up the new manager will select remains to be seen but it is widely expected to be a full strength Swansea side as they bid to put some more money into the coffers at the end of what has been a disappointing season following the early promise. And with a new man at the helm you would assume that the players will all be looking to impress if they want to feature in his plans which he says includes looking for promotion next season - optimistic talk but certainly no way outside the realms of possibility.

The FAW Premier Cup may usually be low priority for most of the season but tomorrow it is right at the top of the agenda and here's to a Swans win.

For exiles, the match will be screened live on both BBC2 Wales and BBC2W on Sky Digital with the programme starting at 6.50pm, kick off is at 6.55pm.
