Beadle and Newport Charged Over Cup Tie

Newport And Beadle Charged

Both Newport County and their manager Peter Beadle have been charged following the scenes in last weekend's First Round FA Cup tie which the Swans won 3-1.

Beadle was ordered from the dug out for disputing with the fourth official a free kick that led to Izzy Iriekpen heading the Swans into a two goal lead in the first half. Whilst he was being escorted from the dug out, a coin was thrown from the Newport fans and struck fourth official Alan Sheffield knocking him out and holding up play for eight minutes in the process.

After reviewing the report of both the referee and the Police, the FAW decided to charge both Beadle and Newport with misconduct - a charge that they have 10 days to respond to. Beadle had already been disciplined by the club for his part in the events despite his public apology on Sunday

"He remains our manager and I am disappointed that 12 months of good work by Peter have been unravelled in a moment of madness," said Newport chairman Chris Blight.

"He's received a severe reprimand, a substantial fine and been warned about his conduct."

The charge against the club relates both to the conduct of their manager and the coin throwing incident whilst Beadle's charge will evolve around his use of offensive and insulting language as well as aggressive and provocative conduct.

Newport are still looking for the culprit who launched the coin at the official and are almost certain to impose a total ban from the ground as and when they catch the guilty party.
