The future looks black and white THE future of Swansea City looks bright after the release of impressive new junior attendance figures for the last two seasons. As the club prepares for its Family Day 'Kids for a Quid' extravaganza against Carlisle on Saturday, December 16, figures show that the Swans are attracting an increasing number of youngsters. For the club's first season at the Liberty Stadium, an average of 2,898 youngsters under the age of 16 watched the Swans in action per game. The impressive figure included a total of 1,023 who held a season ticket or 12-booker. The number of youngsters watching the Swans grew steadily last season, culminating at the final game of the season at the Liberty Stadium where 3,969 fans under the age of 16 saw Kenny Jackett's men beat Brentford in the play-off semi-final. The trend has continued for the current campaign with season ticket and 12-bookers for the Under-16s up by 150 to 1,173. The support from the young Swans was highlighted at the recent game against Millwall where 2,908 youngsters saw goals from Dennis Lawrence and Leon Britton record a memorable 2-0 win. "The club firmly believes that these youngsters are our fans of the future,'' explained Swans vice chairman Leigh Dineen. "These latest figures support that belief. "The number of youngsters watching and supporting the Swans - their local football club - is absolutely fantastic. "We are delighted with the figures and we will continue to do everything we can to keep the youngsters coming back to the Liberty Stadium. "I'm sure our Family Day 'Kids for a Quid' initiative will only help us achieve our goal of making the Swans a real family affair.'' The Family Day will be the club's third special event in its 'Fans of the Future' series, a club initiative introduced to encourage youngsters to support the Swans today, tomorrow and for the long-term future. The club has already enjoyed a positive response from its two previous initiatives - 'Free Season Tickets for the Under-8s' and 'Kids Go Free' This time, children aged 16 and under will be allowed to watch the game against Carlisle from the Family Stand (South) for just £1 with a full-paying adult. Before the game they will be kept busy by face painters and other children's entertainers to be announced shortly. Everyone's favourite Cyril and Cybil the Swan will also be on top form, while the players will also be taking time out to sign autographs and chat to the youngsters. There will also be plenty of free giveaways, while the club's Football in the Community department will also be getting involved. 'Kids For A Quid' tickets are now on sale at the Liberty Stadium ticket office to personal callers only - but only while stocks last. They must be purchased with an adult ticket for the Family Stand (South). Up to six children's tickets may be purchased per adult ticket. For larger group purchases, such as local junior football teams, please contact the club direct on 01792 616600. Due to increased demand, the club has also released extra places in its new Junior Jacks Suite at the Liberty Stadium.
