Craney Blow For Accrington

Stanley To Lose Out On Craney

The Lancashire Telegraph is reporting that half of any fee that Swansea City pay for Ian Craney will go to his former club Altrincham as part of the sell on clause inserted when he first joined Stanley.

They are reporting that a fee of £150,000 has been agreed between the two clubs for the transfer but the league new boys will only benefit to the tune of £75,000 of that - a further payout for Altrincham, more than two years since they sold the midfielder.

Craney, who made his debut in the 0-0 draw with Bristol City last weekend, joined the Swans just before the loan deadline initially on loan but with a view to a permanent deal. His debut prompted Kenny Jackett to comment "He has sharpness and mobility and when he gets the ball he can play.

"He played it quite safe but I understand that. He doesn't know the players that well yet. When he does he'll show that he can play-off the front players and get a shot or two away."

Stanley chief executive Rob Heys told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Unfortunately when Ian signed everyone knew he was a good player, Altrincham knew they had a good player as well and so the transfer fee was negotiated with a 50 per cent sell on clause."
