De Vries has been a target since the back end of last season and the Chairman is confident that we have beaten off interest from clubs in both England and Scotland to grab the signature of the highly rated keeper.

Speaking in today's Western Mail Jenkins said "We are very hopeful Dorus will be signing with us some time within the next few days

"He's exactly what we have been after. He's of the right age, in his mid-20s, and will improve as a keeper over the next few years, hopefully here at Swansea.

"He's already had good reports coming out of Scotland and we're very hopeful he will make a very good addition to our squad.

"With Paul Anderson, we hope to see him arriving in the next few days as well, the deal is with a view to a season on loan here.

"We're just waiting for confirmation of that to come through from Liverpool.

"As for Darren Moore, the link is just rumour, but we are hoping one or two more deals will be done, maybe as early as next week.

"We do want everything in place before the start of the new season."

Optimism is high around the Liberty as Martinez builds a squad that he hopes is good enough to win promotion to the Championship and that optimism is something that has not gone unnoticed in the board room

"I think there is a lot of optimism surrounding the club ahead of the new season now," said Jenkins.

"A lot of that must go down to Roberto and the way we finished the end of last season.

"I think a lot of people, especially the supporters, see how determined we are to make sure we go into next season with a better squad than we did last time and that now looks like being the case I think.

"We believe the club is moving forward all the time and we can look at what's to come now with real confidence.

"We don't want to talk ourselves up too much at this time because that can cause you problems later on

"But, when you go into a new season, I think, whichever division you're in, you have to have the belief you're going to finish on top.

"That's not just peculiar to Swansea, that goes for everyone in every division.

"We're going to be full of confidence next season. We know it's going to be tough, it always is, but we will be aiming to finish top of the league, I don't think anyone linked with the club would expect us to be in any other frame of mind."
