Feeney Scores In Irish Win

Feeney Scores In Irish Win

At least one Swansea player was smiling this weekend as Warren Feeney grabbed the first of Northern Ireland's two goals in a famous victory over Denmark in Belfast.

Feeney struck in the second half before David Healy grabbed a winner to keep alive the Irish slim hopes of qualification.

Feeney was on hand to head home Chris Brunt's left wing cross just past the hour mark - his third goal for Northern Ireland and just three minutes later a 35-yard volley rebounded off the post as the Irish stepped up a gear.

Northern Ireland will qualify for Austria and Switzerland if they beat Spain on Wednesday and Latvia beat Sweden.

Feeney told BBC Sport after the game "It was exciting. We were disappointed when we went 1-0 down but we know we have fighting spirit in the camp.

"I always knew David was going to make the headlines. But through the team the players have got the spirit."
