Leon Britton believes that both Swansea and Cardiff have what it takes to reach the end of season play-offs

The Swansea City midfielder saw red in Sunday's derby after another inspired display in the heart of the home side's midfield.

Despite playing under pain killing injections, Britton was at the centre of much that the Swans did despite his late red card earned for a second yellow card in the dying moments.

The draw left the two sides in 7th (Cardiff) and 8th (Swansea) place respectively just on the edge of the play off positions, positions that Britton believes they could hold come the end of the season.

"Cardiff have got good players, they'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season." he told BBC Sport

"I think we can do that as well. Fingers crossed, if we keep up our high standards, we can be there.

"I think I got the ball," he said in relation to his second yellow card, "but the referee said I went in two-footed. Things happen so quickly on the pitch, I'll have to look at the replay but I think I got the ball.

"But the referee made a decision and you have to respect it.

"I've heard so much about derby games since I've been here and the two games we have played against them this season have been unbelievable, with great atmospheres.

"This game had everything [you could want] in a derby match, sendings-off, four goals, a penalty. What else can you ask for?

"Personally we could have asked for a win, but the fans have watched a good game of football."
