Gorka Pintado scores twice and Casey Thomas once as FC Twente are beaten at the Liberty

It is always hard to judge much by a pre-season friendly especially when you consider that the teams that finish the game usually tend to be wholly different from those that started it but on the face of it victory against a side who last year competed in Europe is a more than satisfactory start to Liberty games for Paulo Sousa.

The 7000 who witnessed the game saw Gorka Pintado score twice - once from the penalty spot - and youngster Casey Thomas knock one in at the back post (from a corner would you believe) to give the Swans victory on a gloriously sunny Swansea afternoon.

Pintado struck his double after coming on as a half time substitute for debut making Stephen Dobbie whilst Thomas was a late introduction for Matty Collins as Sousa used the game as an ideal opporetunity to see what certain players were capable of.

There were some positive contributions during the game from Alan Tate and Nathan Dyer who combined well down the left whilst Dobbie looked lively in the first half and seemed to combine well with both Dyer and Andrea Orlandi - sporting his new shorter haircut.

At the back one defensive lapse - almost traditional for the Swans - was the only thing that gave the visitors their goal whilst Dorus produced a couple of sharp saves first half before being replaced before the end of the game by David Cornell.

As stated early on it is difficult to provide a detailed match report from any game that provides so many changes but this was a deserved win for the Swans who produced the better of the football on the day but at times seemed to lack the killer touch that they would have liked.

Paulo moves onto Neath with his side on Monday evening now but I suspect remains a very happy man this evening.
