Liverpool Latest To Agree Reciprocal Away Ticket's
Liverpool Latest To Agree Reciprocal Away Ticket's
Friday, 22nd Nov 2013 12:18

Liverpool have joined forces with Cardiff to offer cheap tickets to those fans travelling away at their two Premier league Fixtures.

In what is a big boost to the "Twenty's Plenty" campaign, Liverpool have been the latest and biggest club to agree a reduction in tickets for forthcoming fixtures with Premier league clubs when along with Cardiff City both clubs announced they would be knocking £10 off the price of an adult/senior ticket for travelling supporters.

The Reds take on the Bluebirds at Anfield on Saturday 21st December. The return meeting takes place at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 22nd March 2014.

Both clubs have been speaking over the past few days and consulted with their own supporters via Cardiff City Supporters Club and the Liverpool FC Supporters’ Committee, who are both affiliated to the FSF.

The clubs said that they “agreed this would be a good thing to do, particularly around the festive period when games are coming thick and fast”. The reduction is in addition to Liverpool’s previous announcement to reduce away tickets for their own fans by £2-£4.

Liverpool did this soon after the announcement several months ago of a £200,000 fund to each Premier League club to benefit away supporters, back then the football club again liased with the Liverpool FC Supporters Committee on how best this fund should be used and after these discussions announced that they would be using some of this fund to alleviate the high costs of away tickets for Liverpool fans.

This latest news means that 7 of the 20 Premier League clubs have now agreed reciprocal arrangements to reduce ticket prices, adding to those who have also used both the away supporter fund and their own money to put on free coaches including Aston Villa and Stoke City.

At time of writing Saints have yet to announce any plans of how they intend to use the money, leading to speculation from some sources saying that it has been used to redecorate the away section at St Mary's, something of course that will not benefit Saints fans.

Hopefully that's just speculation and after a couple of months which have seen relations between the club and the press soften, perhaps in the near future Saints will announce how they intend to spend the money

You can give your support via the Twenty’s Plenty petition (which will trigger an automatic email to your club and the relevant league).
