Crowd trouble mars Whites' draw at Blackpool
Crowd trouble mars Whites' draw at Blackpool

It was probably an outing that we would rather forget and it doesn't look like we will be back for a few seasons, Leeds took a point on Blackpool's notoriously bad pitch but some of our notoriously bad supporters made headlines of their own.

I suppose having one of the largest followings in the country means we will have a higher number of dickheads and a 3pm kick-off in a notoriously boozy seaside town would have had the numpties marking this one off on their calendars, presumably with a big "X" and presumably between appointments at probation and the Jobcentre.

It was clear that something had kicked off behind the goal where the home-fans sat, closer inspection of the eternally anti-Leeds Daily Mirror shows women and kids in Blackpool shirts cowering for safety whilst a load of baked-bean heads in designer clobber go toe-to-toe. FFS we are not Millwall and I do wish some lads would grow up. I'm beginning to enjoy Awaydays less and less, at Wigan a couple of weeks ago as well as the pathetic barracking of Dave Whelan some idiots set smoke-bombs off under the concourse at half-time and at Blackburn in November one of my favourite haunts The Postal Order pub was smashed up for the second-year running.

I suppose it was inevitable that some of our so-called fans would end up in the away end. Reportedly 400-600 Blackpool fans boycotted the game and went to watch AFC Blackpool of the North West Counties League instead after staging a noisy process against Chairman Karl Oyston and the running (or ruining) of the club. It is 15 years since Mr Oyston took helm of the club after his father Owen was convicted of rape. Although Blackpool have enjoyed the dizzy heights of the Premiershio under his tenure, they are now experiencing a new low and amongst other things such as calling a fan "a retard" a fans group called the Tangerine Knights with just over 1500 Facebook have called on Oyston and his family to leave.

Still, at least they have a Flyde Derby against Fleetwood Town to look forward to next season. Then again Fleetwood are only four points off the League One play-offs.

The game wasn't up to much and Leeds were 1-0 down on the stroke of half-time. Gary Madine, on loan from Sheffield Wednesday headed home after Orlandi's free-kick had struck the woodwork.

Neal Redfearn's decision to stick with the side who beat Fulham meant that Mirco Antenucci started on the bench, but within moments of coming on he should have done better with an effort created by Berardi but on the hour managed to lob Lewis after a mistake by Clarke to level the scores.

Giuseppe Belluci thought he'd bundled home a late winner courtesy of Beradi's cross but it was disallowed for a foul in the build up and the Italian hardman picked up his customary yellow-card.

I suppose many of us, myself included thought it would be as easy as a stroll along the Prom. At least we didn't sustain any major injury problems on that pitch and a point was not much cop to Blackpool either who could be down after their next game in two weeks time at Bolton.
