Former Arsenal Goalkeeper To Be Third Choice?
Saturday, 18th Jul 2015 20:49 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Swans hunt for a third choice goalkeeper could be over after Josh Vickers featured against 1860 Munich tonight whilst on trial at the club.

The Swans have been on the look out for another goalkeeper having released both Gerhard Tremmel and David Cornell at the end of the season.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt came in earlier in the summer but the Swans have been looking for one more option in the goalkeeping department in case of injury to either of their first two choices.

Vickers has worked with Swans goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts during his time at Arsenal and was released from the Gunners at the end of his contract and has been on trial for the last three weeks at Swansea.

If he were to sign then he would end up you would assume being the Under-21 goalkeeper but ready to be called on should he be needed due to injuries.

Although nothing official has been announced by the club that he will be signing the fact that he was taken to Germany and you would assume a recommendation by Roberts this one has to have a fair chance of happening?

Vickers said via Twitter on his release from Arsenal "Would like to thank everyone @Arsenal for the last 12 years, but it's time for me to move on and start a new chapter in my career!

"I'm excited to see what's next for me and look forward to taking the next step in my football career!"
