Koeman Praises Ryan Bertrand For England Call Up
Thursday, 1st Oct 2015 18:07

Saints manager Ronald Koeman has praised Ryan Bertrand for the way he has returned from injury and stepped straight back into the England squad.

Speaking to the media today Koeman said.

“ I am a little bit surprised because of course it’s very fast after the first time playing 90 minutes but I was also surprised about the level what Ryan already bring last week."

"Ok, maybe a little influence in maybe some injuries on different players on that position."

"We know if Ryan is back and playing on his level then he’s one of the national team and that’s good because it’s good for the player, the confidence of the player and it’s good for Southampton.”

He added:

“Already he’s a good player in my opinion because it’s always a difficult position."

“You don’t have really very good left full backs and the qualities of Ryan is important in our way of playing.

“I like to play with offensive left, offensive right full backs. He’s on that level that we are happy he is a player of Southampton.”

Oh dear I hope that doesn't mean he will be going to Liverhampton at the end of the season, he is a very good player that we need to keep but maybe if we qualify for Europe this season then may be he will stay, but Targett will be ready next season, coyr

Even though the ink's not dry in a couple of cases, draw up new contracts now, not after they've been 'tapped up' and the damage is done. If there is a wage cap, scrap it! We all know who the likely targets will be, so if there is any intention of keeping them, those players should be paid competitively or we have no chance. If they do go, at least we'll get realistic fees .I know the club tried early with Clyne, but obviously not early enough!
IF we don't lose too much ground I think we'll surprise a few people come the summer, but we want to avoid again being the victims of our own success.
