G.M's Match Preview: Many Rams Are Now Playing For Their DCFC Future
Monday, 17th Apr 2017 08:12 by George Martin

After Friday's 4-0 drubbing away to Brentford, a groin injury to David Nugent will force Gary Rowett to make changes to the Derby County starting XI, as they welcome high flying Huddersfield to Pride Park.

Anya, Bent and Hughes will all be hoping for starts and if Rowett decides to change formation, then Vydra could also be recalled.

Many fans have often said that this squad are good enough for promotion when things are going their way. However, too many times they have not showed enough grit, desire and determination when falling behind games, especially away from home.

Unfortunately, there are not enough players with enough hunger and desire to try and play at the top level. They have either already done so or just seem happy in this division and often all look around for who to blame instead of looking in the mirror.

Huddersfield have had a magnificent season. Manager Wagner has performed miracles by improving the players already at his disposal and bringing in some good, young loan players. They would also have been laughing all the way to the bank after the overpriced sale of Butterfield to The Rams and have since used this money wisely.

They work hard, play good football and are strong across the whole park. They don't rely on an out and out striker. They share the goals and assists across a number of players. They also show the necessary grit and bottle for this league, proved by coming from behind to win 3-2 on Friday. Before that game their form had actually dipped.

Brown, Wells and Kachunga will provide the pace, width and trickery going forward for The Terriers. Billing is a doubt with a groin strain and Scannel will be hoping for a recall.

Match Prediction:

With Derby having nothing to play for but pride and Huddersfield guaranteed a play off spot, this is a difficult game to call.

It will be a very good test for the Derby and Rowett will be looking for a positive reaction from the squad after Friday's defeat, especially with a number of player's playing for their future at the club.

2—2 with Ince to bag.
