Pompey's double swoop has got the bosses excited
Wednesday, 23rd May 2018 21:40 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kenny Jackett is excited by his latest signing - attacking midfielder Louis Dennis.

The Blues have recruited the former Bromley a day after clinching their first summer recruit, Derry striker Ronan Curtis.

It's a positive start to Pompey's summer of squad strengthening, with Jackett so far meeting his self-set target of getting new faces in early.

Dennis, 25, can also play out wide and Jackett told the Pompey website: 'He’s an exciting player with a lot of talent and someone we’ve been watching for quite some time. He was named in the National League Team of the Season and we’re pleased to be able to sign him for Pompey.

'It’s a big opportunity for him, but he has the ability to create and score goals, which is what we’re looking for. He’s worked hard for his opportunity and we feel that as a person, he’s mature enough to go on and take it.'

Dennis told the website: 'It’s been a surreal few days for me on a personal level — going from the disappointment of losing at Wembley to the achievement of signing for Portsmouth Football Club.

'I feel like I’ve had a good season and so hopefully now I can continue to push on. I’ve had to pick myself up from some low points, so I’m pleased to have proved a few people wrong.'

Dennis scored 21 goals for Bromley last season as they did well in the Conference and reached the FA Trophy final.

Similarly pleased to arrive at Fratton was Curtis, who has played for the Republic of Ireland under-21s. Assistant boss Joe Gallen told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'He’s someone we’ve tracked for the past few months. He’s got a lot of pace and power, and is good in the air as well, so we’re really pleased to bring him here.'
