Huge boost for Forest and Leeds and if, as it stands, is to be the 3 that go down I think it will be the first time for a few years that 2 of the 3 promoted teams survive. Be interesting to see what West Ham do with a 60k capacity stadium in the Championship! I reckon they would have still filled Upton Park but without the PL plastics and the tourists it will be a struggle. No excuse to restrict away allocations though. Mateus Fernandes isn’t having much luck in the PL is he?
He would be a 100% improvement on the departing Downs. Scored two quality goals for West Ham away at Bournemouth earlier in the season and dropping down a level would suit him as he still has goals in him for sure. West Ham have a massive game tomorrow night, home to Nottingham Forest who are currently 4 pts ahead of West Ham and just one league place above them. A win tomorrow would take the gap down to a single point, but if West Ham lose they will be 7 pts adrift. As the next fixture is the FA Cup 3rd round I would venture to suggest that tomorrow is the last chance saloon for Nuno, a win may give him more time, a loss would mean West Ham then have 10 days before the next PL game to find a replacement. Also, a West Ham win might welll put Dyche in the sack race spotlight as the Forest owner is not exactly a patient man!
Where is the new keeper? Good question TimSaint, unfortunately the answer is currently on strike! He is on loan at Hamburg from Bayern but despite the fact Bayern want him back so he can be sent over here to play for us Hamburg don’t want to let him go until they have found a replacement. As a result the keeper has downed tools and is refusing to train. I don’t know the ins and outs of the German loan rules but could it be possible this farce might continue until the.very end of the January if Hamburg don’t find a replacement until the last day of the window? If that is the case we could inherit a keeper who has not trained for a month and won’t be match fit! Just get Patterson in from Sunderland and be done with it…

OK, I didn’t realise PB was like that, in which case Sheff Utd are welcome to him. Agree re Wilder being the main contributory factor in SU’s revival, just observing the fact PB does look good at this level but agreed it is Wilder who is the main influence. Come to think of it, if PB is a disruptor then in the absence of Brian Clough or Alex Ferguson I reckon Wilder is one of the top candidates to keep PB toeing the line!
I do wonder what the January window will bring, perhaps give Leeds a nudge and see if Piroe is available perhaps on an initial loan as he isn’t getting much of a look in at Elland Road. Top scorer in the Championship last season unless I am mistaken…

That said, we should have been quicker with Bamford who actually looks like a PL player playing a league down. The quality of the two goals he scored against Wrexham were excellent. Yet another missed opportunity although I understand some may have questioned PB's own injury record....
I reckon mid table obscurity isn't so much beckoning , more like it has already got us in a bear hug! I watched events unfold this afternoon online with Sky pictures but the BBC Radio Oxford commentary and on both occasions when first Leo and then Fellows were subbed off the obviously Oxford biased commentators were high fiving each other with delight, both times they said the O's players will be delighted to see the back of them. How true that was, as soon as Leo is subbed we lose the heartbeat of the team going forward. We have a good outfield 10 to start a game but not much strength in depth from the bench. All said and done, a poor Oxford side should have been dispatched today despite the managerial change, end of.
Arnold Schwarzenegger moves to a village in Hampshire, straight away the local am-dram society approach him to be in their Christmas pantomime. At first he resists as he does not want be recognised but one of the cast keeps pestering him. In the end Arnold agrees saying: OK, OK, I’ll do it, I will be in the pantomime horse with you, you be front, and I’ll be back…. 🎄🙂
Agreed, please let it be so. If it is Hamburg then we could take Robert Glatzel as a swop as part of the deal. He’s a sharp cookie, a good friend and fellow Saint spends a lot of time working in that part of Germany and has long said he’s worth a punt. The only concern would be he has had a few injuries so we’d have to be sure he is fit and firing on all cylinders but if so comes recommended by someone who has seen him score plenty of goals during Hamburg’s time outside the top flight before getting back up this season.
It seems to me that FIFA have based their pricing for the finals on what the NFL charge for tickets for Super Bowl games in the latter stages of the competition with prices for the Super Bowl final and the World Cup final depressingly similar. Absolutely disgusting but not the slightest bit surprised by the wanton greed of FIFA unashamedly on open display for all to see.

From previous posts where people were unsure or couldn’t remember: Yes to both Ryan Bertrand & Peter Crouch PC played a few times for Norwich the season before he joined us.
That ended up far too close for comfort. West Brom looked a different team after the break, that said we gave them a helping hand defensively. It seems that once we start making subs and the likes of Scienza and AA depart we rapidly go from setting the opposition problems to solve to having to solve the problems they are now setting us. Despite the squad size I don't think we have the quality in depth so seem to suffer in the last third of games.
All said and done, another 3 points and after a very brief flirtation with a play off place for a few minutes around half time we are up to 8th overnight and the Skates are still in the bottom 3.
Just looked at the table in the HT break and we are up to 6th in the last play-off place! OK, I know Stoke and Brizzle City play tomorrow and other gamers are draws but just to see it in such a short space of time is amazing considering where we were under the playstation pillock.
I will stand to be corrected if I am wrong, but as far as I know, it is still a Football League / FA requirement that all clubs make a printed programme available for every game with certain basic minimum requirements such as line-ups, forthcoming fixtures and results. This requirement has been in place since the late 1800’s so until it is revoked there will still be programmes of some description for every game. Double programmes were not unusual at some clubs way beck when. About 100 years ago there were occasions when Liverpool & Everton used to issue a joint programme for the same day, so a 1st team game for Everton & a Reserve team game for Liverpool or the other way around. A few other clubs did joint programmes on occasions. As already mentioned apart from pre-season I don’t recall Saints ever doing this for two League games. The amount of money this will save is absolutely minuscule when compared to what we are paying Sam Edozie every week not to play football…
