Having Ross Stewart will help us with the aerial presence at corners. Peretz does worry me at corners; you can tell he hasn't previously played in a League where there are so many crosses coming into the penalty area. Quarshie is tall, but I don't think he's that good in the air. |

Not going to get carried away as we always seem to do well against Sheffield United for some reason. But we look much better with Ross Stewart in the side. Brilliant save from Peretz at the end from Bamford; shite defending led to the chance, mind. Would have been doom and gloom on here if that had gone in. And now the world looks a better place. |

I do actually wonder if many of our Corporate pocket of tickets will be used. Hard to imagine many of them turning up at early o'clock on Sunday at a cold St. Mary's, with a fair few hours of hanging around doing nothing. |
 | Forum Thread | Actual attendance tonight EXCLUDING non-attending ST holders at 12:07 21 Jan 2026
Think it could be a really low one tonight. Weather is miserable and morale has rarely been lower. Sheffield presumably won't bring many. I'm going to go for an official nonsensical attendance of 24,000. But an actual attendance of 17,000. |

The Echo have picked their predicted starting XI for tonight, which excludes Armstrong, and is frankly a recipe for an absolute disaster frankly. They are going with: Peretz Manning Jelert Stephens Harwood-Bellis Wood Downes Bragg Azaz Robinson (in ahead of Scienza) Archer I am hoping the Echo are on a wind-up here, as I could see that team losing by 3 or 4. |
 | Forum Thread | Parsons at 08:25 21 Jan 2026
An in-the-know Saints fan said to me on Saturday he was surprised that Parsons gets away with so little stick. He believes that the 3-year extension to Stephens' contract was more down to Parsons than Spors. Largely on the basis that much like Russell Martin, Parsons wants to be everyone's mate, and as somebody with a bit-part footballing career, he is almost in awe of the players. Some Saints fans give him credit for having changed the operational side of things, but pretty much everything he has done I detest, i.e. - moving the away end - the gulag fanzones - Level 1 - the Dell bar I had not previously given him much stick on the playing side, as I had thought that was largely Spors' remit. But I am now starting to think otherwise. |

But then didn't we max out on loan players when we got promoted? |

The weather forecast is not looking great for Sunday. Therefore waiting for an hour to get on a coach at St. Mary's and then standing in a gulag at Fratton for 2 hours pre-match may have slightly less appeal than it may have done... |

I suppose the thing is, do the players want to keep him in a job sufficiently to actually do the one thing that will guarantee him a few months longer? Have my doubts. |

I know. I did it last year for the Friday night game. Took about 3 and a half hours to get there from Poole. We still sold it out. |

Here’s hoping. Might be handy if they are open during the game as well….. |

Their support is absolute shit. I think they will struggle to fill the 20,000 stadium they will have in a few years. Hopefully it sends them into financial ruin when they get relegated. |

Do we know yet what “facilities’ there will be open for us when we arrive at Fratton before 10am? |

Bump. Just hearing on Solent that the total cost of policing the two South Coast derbies is £700,000!!! That bloody awful Crime Commissioner Donna Jones was bleating on that the sum which relates to the presence at the grounds (and which the Dibble can recover from the clubs) is just £35,000 each. That sounds utterly nuts. Is the cost of providing policing away from the grounds really around £630,000???!!!??? I thought that was the point of a bubble; it would prevent flashpoint places around the train station etc. Bonkers. |
