Southend Target Brown Loan
Southend Target Brown Loan

Southend United are reported to targeting a loan deal for Town defender Troy Brown. The Wales U21 international is yet to feature for the Blues under Paul Jewell’s management, his last appearance coming in the 7-0 FA Cup defeat at Chelsea.

Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock recently saw Brown in action for Town’s reserves against his club’s second string in a 4-0 Blues victory at Playford Road.

Jewell has been looking to get his young fringe players out on loan with the deadline for emergency deals tomorrow. Irish striker Ronan Murray is already at Torquay, centre-half Tommy Smith at Colchester and keeper Ian McLoughlin at Stockport.

Brown will be away with the Welsh U21 side next week for their European Championships qualifier in Andorra.

The 20-year-old, who has made eight starts and six sub appearances for Town since signing from Fulham’s academy in July 2009, is out of contract at the end of the season.
