Norris: Players Unaware of Seriousness of Injury
Norris: Players Unaware of Seriousness of Injury

Midfielder David Norris says the rest of the Town squad were unaware that Damien Delaney had suffered a serious injury in Thursday training until they met up to travel to Holland on Friday for the game at PSV.

When they had left Playford Road the defender, who is expected to be out for three months, was icing what appeared to be nothing more than a routine dead leg.

Norris says the full extent of the problem, which is similar to an injury sustained by former Spurs full-back Christian Ziege a few years ago, was made clear the rest of the players when they assembled ahead of the trip: “We left training and it was a dead leg he was icing. Obviously it’s taken a turn for the worst.

“It was just a clash and he carried on and I saw him after training with ice strapped to his leg. It was only when we got to the airport we heard that it was worse.

“It’s a shame with him just coming back from injury at the end of last season. He and Gareth were a huge presence after the first part of last season and hopefully he’ll be back soon.”
