Could Waigo Be Coming Back

Agents talk is obviuosly not the most reliable of sources but according to Papa's a return to St Mary's is not to be ruled out.

Sky sports on line is quoting Papa Waigo's agent that his client could return to England and could return to Southampton, now he is quite blatantly trying to stir up interest in the player but with Nicola Cortese's connections it might well happen.

Last season at Saints it was a bit of a mystery as t why he was used so sparingly, although he did struggle with the offside rule early on, he not only had a knack for scoring goals but creating them as well, and with his ability to play either as an all out forward or winger, it does offer opportunities.

Popular rumour from within the club has it that Waigo was caught in the middle of a political scrap between the manager and the Chairman, Cortese had engineered the move as he looked to bring in a European culture where the board bring in the players and the manager merely manages what he is given, whilst Alan Pardew was naturally not to keen on this arrangement, the upshot being that Waigo often found himself out in the cold as the ex Saints boss made his point to the Chairman who was picking the team.

Because of that Waigo was obviously not too interested in moving permanently to a club where the manager was not going to play him so the proposed full move was called off, but perhaps now Nigel Adkins might look at him with a neutral unbiased mind.

Certainly Waigo could fill a gap, with Lee Holmes looking likely to be out long term and Puncheon on loan there is a gap to be plugged in midfield and simiarly up front Rickie Lambert is fast running out of chances and David Connolly will always have a question mark over his ability to keep injury free, so Waigo would effectively kill two birds with one stone.
