Saints Need To Be Pro Active For Brentford Tickets

Saints hopefully will be speaking to Brentford regarding the ticket allocation

For recent away games it seems that the Saints ticket office has been pro active in speaking to its counterparts at the clubs we are playing in the run in to the end of the season, certainly they have pestered Leyton Orient to release another block of tickets and these efforts should be applauded.

But perhaps the most important away game of the season was always going to be the trip to Brentford on April 30th, of course now its not the last game as we travel to Plymouth two days later in a re arranged fixture, but its sure to be one that a lot of Saints supporters will wantto travel to.

Last season we sold out the meagre 1,600 allocation for a Tuesday night game with a lot of Saints fans also going into the home sections,  Brentford rarely get above 6,000 for home games slightly under half of their 12 763 capacity, indeed the highest crowd is the 6543 that saw them play Peterborough back in October, whilst their lowest was the 3,795 that saw Notts County earlier this month giving an average attendance of 5,143.

The Bees are highly unlikely to have anything riding on this game given their mid table position so Saints should be talking to them about how to increase our allocation, last season the Bill Axbey stand opposite the main stand was virtually empty and with careful planning surely this could be allocated to Saints fans or at least a big part of it, at a guess I would say it holds around about 3,000 and if this was to be given over to away fans, their would still be plenty of room for Brentford fans on the other two sides, in fact if Saints did get say 3,000 in this stand our total allocation would still only be just over 4,000 leaving over 8,000 places for home fans, more than enough.

But Saints need to act now and make sure that they speak to Brentford and get Police approval etc, this is a game like Delhurst park in 1999 when a lot more Saints fans will go than the tickets allocated, surely its better to get as many as possible into the ground rather than have large numbers drinking in the pubs around the ground.

If we were ever going to have a final day miracle we needed a much better performance than this final day showing against Southampton, so now we have to endure the agony of the play-offs yet again.

As Mark Twain might have said, rumours of the death of our promotion hopes have been greatly exaggerated. Last night’s win at Middlesbrough was a hard watch towards the end, but the vital three points has got our campaign back on track.

Once again the chance to go back to the top of the table was handed to us on a plate, but we dropped the plate. This week’s frustration-fest was at the hands of Blackburn Rovers.
