It never rains but pours....

Top scorer to undergo knee scan.

Not the sort of news one wishes to hear considering our stuttering form of late, but Luciano Becchio will undergo a scan on his knee this week.

United's top-scorer came off the bench last Saturday to fire Leeds into the lead against Watford, but he lasted just 22 minutes and the mystery was revealed on Monday evening on the official Leeds website where Simon Grayson was quoted as saying Becchio's knee was "sore".

Leeds do seem to have an abundance of strikers in waiting, however other than Davide Somma who seems to be more effective as a "super sub" Leeds' other strikers in Ross McCormack and Billy Paynter have hardly been amongst the goals this season. Admittedly part of the reason has been Becchio's brilliant form and Grayson's frequent use of a lone striker.

Grayson also has Mike Grella back from loan at Swindon Town, but the behaviour of the American, who amazingly walked out on the Robin's last week has annoyed both Grayson and Town boss Paul Hart.

Losing Becchio for any part of the run-in or (pray God) the play-offs would be a blow, however the good thing is Leeds have proved this season they are as potent scoring goals from midfield as they are woeful at defending. Messers Gradel, Howson and Johnson have scored 32 league goals between them this season!

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now. But the accumulated losses mean that player sales will be inevitable in the summer if we remain in the Championship.
