McAuley Agrees Deal as Rangers Linked
Blues boss Paul Jewell says Town have agreed terms with central defender Gareth McAuley and that he hopes the Northern Irishman will join Damien Delaney in signed his new deal in the next few days. One of this morning’s tabloids claims Rangers manager Ally McCoist will be at Thursday’s East Anglian derby with Norwich to run the rule over the 31-year-old, but the Town manager says that their interest is news to him.
Jewell said: "We’ve agreed to Gareth McAuley’s agent’s terms and we’re waiting for him to say yes to them. As far as I’m aware everything’s done and hopefully he’ll get it signed.
"I know there’s a story in the papers this morning about him going to Rangers. I don’t know anything about that. As far as I’m concerned we’ve agreed with Gareth and hopefully he’ll get it signed.”
SPL giants Rangers previously targeted the former Lincoln and Leicester man last summer.
