Pompey Games Kick Off Change

Over a third of Saints Championship games are now not a 3pm Saturday kick off.

Saints have just announced that the two fixtures with Pompey this season will now have a 1pm on Saturday kick off to help alleviate potential crowd problems.

Although this is in theory a good idea, it could be a little bit premature in that at least one of thegames could be selected for TV in which case the timings would again ned to be changed.

The moving of these kick off times along with the change for the seasons opener against Leeds United now means that of 46 Championship games, 16 of them are not going to be 3pm Saturday kick offs, that is broken down as follows, five evening games at home with the five reverse fixtures away also being evening kick offs, the Boxing Day home game against Palace plus the bank holiday game on 2nd January at Brighton and the Easter monday fixture at Palace , this made it 13 non Saturday games on the original fixture list, and we can now add two 1pm Saturday kicks offs plus the 5.20pm Leeds game.

In truth with 8 away fixtures already not on a 3pm kick off, if Saints are selected for any TV games on the road it could be that almost half our away games will be a little awkward to get to and from.

Annual accounts show that the club will have to sell players if we don't go up
The club released the annual accounts for the 2022/3 season this week, and despite the headline figure of an overall loss of £33.7 million, we’re not in danger of any points deduction for now.
